The Newtown Soccer Club is proud to announce a new program called The Skills Development program (SDP). The program will be geared towards the U9 and U10 age groups. This program will be offered in the Fall and Winter at the new Youth academy, and Spring. The program will be run jointly by UK International as well as the Newtown Boys and Girls Varsity coaches Brian Neumeyer and Marc Kenney.
As many of you may know the Newtown Soccer
Club does not sponsor a U9 Travel program due to the fact that we consider
it a little to early to introduce weekly results oriented games were
the focus is on winning and development second. True player
development focuses on the development of the player, not the development
of a team!! We truly believe this regardless of what some
may say. Winning is transient, but individual life skills learned on
the field of play and in training sessions are enduring and last a lifetime.
The sessions will start September 22nd and will run for 60 minutes every Monday. Girls will be from 4:30-5:30 and boys from 5:30-6:30. Players must be born between August 1st 1998 and July 31st 2000. There will be no exception to the age requirement. Players must be part of the NSC Rec program to participate as this will be in addition to the in-house league. The cost for the 5 week Fall program will be $90.00 and will include an Academy Shirt. If you are interested please email coaching@newtownsoccerclub.org to reserve your spot. The program will have limited slots available due to fields and coach availability.
All Rec. schedules, practice details and coach details have been posted. If you see any problems, please email the webmaster
The uniform purchase arrangements scheduled for today at Fairfield Hills have been postponed due to late arrival of shirts. We will reschedule for next week, and this page will be updated with the new arrangements. Sorry for the inconvenience
Registration has closed for players, but is still open for coaches via the registration page
U8 to U14 Recreational divisions will be changing to new uniforms beginning in the Fall season 2008. The new uniforms are available from SoccerPost at 1867 Blackrock Turnpike, Fairfield (203-332-7300) on an ongoing basis during their normal opening hours, and 2 uniform purchase dates have been scheduled in Newtown prior to the season. These are Tuesday 8/26 from 12pm to 4pm, and Wednesday 8/27 from 3.30pm to 7pm, both at Fairfield Hills. U4 to U6 Recreational will continue to use the existing design of reversable uniforms, which are still available from Rankin Sports in Danbury.
Lisa has managed our recreational referee program for the last 4 years. This includes training and certification of new and existing referees, and the scheduling of referees for 49 Recreational teams between U8 and U14, each with a game every weekend. Lisa was formally presented with the award at the CT State Referee Program Awards Night on May 31st. Congratulations to Lisa, and our thanks for the great job she continues to do for the benefit of the kids in our program.
Newtown Soccer Club is managed by people who although volunteers, get a great deal of satisfaction from sustaining and developing an organization promoting and teaching soccer to almost 2000 kids. We are looking for a Travel Registrar to assist with rosters, player passes and similar activities. If you can help, please contact Mark Tolla, our VP Travel | ||||||||
