On Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00pm the Varsity Boys Team will be hosting Joel Barlow at the Blue and Gold Stadium. First night home game of the season!

This game is the big Soccerfest Night. There will be silent auctions and raffles, as well as a 'tent' to test the power of your soccer foot, face painting, cotton candy and pre-game festivities on the field with the varsity players.

We invite any of the younger players to participate on the field with the boys, but space is limited to the first 45 players who sign up. If any player or team would like to participate please e-mail Tammy and she will reserve a space for you.

The cost of attending the game is just the willingness to have a great time and cheer on our varsity soccer team!!!!!!!! (No admission fee).

Please come and have a great time!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

EDIT - The program will be held at Fairfield Hills

The Newtown Soccer Club is proud to announce a new program called The Skills Development program (SDP). The program will be geared towards the U9 and U10 age groups. This program will be offered in the Fall and Winter at the new Youth academy, and Spring. The program will be run jointly by UK International as well as the Newtown Boys and Girls Varsity coaches Brian Neumeyer and Marc Kenney.

As many of you may know the Newtown Soccer Club does not sponsor a U9 Travel program due to the fact that we consider it a little to early to introduce weekly results oriented games were the focus is on winning and development second. True player development focuses on the development of the player, not the development of a team!! We truly believe this regardless of what some may say. Winning is transient, but individual life skills learned on the field of play and in training sessions are enduring and last a lifetime.
The SDP program is looking for enthusiastic and focused players who wish to enhance their passion for the game. Players who choose to participate will have an additional weekly practice with a professional coach and will also play games during these sessions. The focus will be on improving the player’s technical skills and tactical understanding through age appropriate games and activities. As for the games, the teams will be randomly picked and will change each week. Each week the players will be challenged but without the fear of being creative within these sessions.
Goals of the program:

  • Individual skill development
  • Developing Physical skills and basic game tactics
  • Teaching good sportsmanship, responsibility and commitment
  • Instilling a desire to succeed while preparing players for successes and failures
  • Provide a fun and enriching experience

The sessions will start September 22nd and will run for 60 minutes every Monday. Girls will be from 4:30-5:30 and boys from 5:30-6:30. Players must be born between August 1st 1998 and July 31st 2000. There will be no exception to the age requirement. Players must be part of the NSC Rec program to participate as this will be in addition to the in-house league. The cost for the 5 week Fall program will be $90.00 and will include an Academy Shirt. If you are interested please email coaching@newtownsoccerclub.org to reserve your spot. The program will have limited slots available due to fields and coach availability.

Can you help?
Newtown Soccer Club is managed by people who although volunteers, get a great deal of satisfaction from sustaining and developing an organization promoting and teaching soccer to almost 2000 kids. We are looking for a Travel Registrar to assist with rosters, player passes and similar activities.
If you can help, please contact Mark Tolla, our VP Travel
