All NEW teams will be formed for the Fall 2018 season and will remain together for the Spring 2019 season. We will not accept friend requests or preferred team placement requests.

Q. What are the birthdate ranges for each Rec division for Fall 2019 - Spring 2020 Season?

High School Rec is for boys and girls in grades 9-12

Note:  U12-U14 ages can be combined.



U5-U6 will meet weekly for age appropriate skill building and introduction to the game of soccer on Saturday mornings/early afternoons.

U7 and up will have one weekly practive and a game on Saturdays.  Boys U14 (combination of U11-U14) can have a game on Mondays.  Team sizes and game day team sizes will be determined by the US Soccer guidelines and NSC policies.

Q:  What is the  recreation uniform?
A:  For U7 through U14, there is a reversible jersey.  The reversible jersey can be purchased from the Soccer Post.  The Soccer Post will have a date to be in Newtown with the jerseys which will be communicated to the families.   High School divisions will receive a soccer jersey.  Each player will have the same coach and team for both the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 seasons.   If your child only registers for one season, that player will still need a jersey. 

Q:  What if my child received the jersey but for some reason needs another one?
A:  Parents are responsible for purchasing a second jersey.

Q:  What equipment is required?
A: All players will require shin guards worn under the socks and their jersey. Cleats are recommended for U4 & U5. However, cleats are required for U6 and above due to the field conditions.

Q:  What rules pertain to my age group?
A:  Rules per age group are found on the Referee's tab on this website here... just scroll down a little.

Q:  How do I know if games or practices are canceled?
A:  The Newtown Soccer Club does not cancel games or practices in general.  Field closures due to weather are done by Newtown Parks and Recreation.  You can set up automatic email alerts by going to their page and clicking on the "EMail Subscriber" link located on the bottom right hand corner.  If the field you are scheduled to play at is closed by Parks & Rec, then your practice or game is cancelled.  Referees and Trainers know to cancel/postpone games immediately in the instances of lightning (seen or heard) or rolling thunder (twice).  The rule of thumb is that the game or practice can resume after 30 minutes of no activity.  

Q:  Where do parents sit to watch our kids?

A:  Parents should sit on the opposite sideline of the Coaches and please do not sit or stand behind the goals (end line).  We would ask that you do not "Coach" from the sidelines... leave that up to the team Coaches.  Also, our referees are young and still learning and the Coaches have been instructed how to deal with possible missed calls, etc.  As parents, please respect the referees and set a great example for your kids by not shouting at the Refs.  Remember, this is just recreation... not professional!
